REGINE GILLMANN
Expressive Art Therapist (M.A.)
Expressive Artist
As an Art Therapist, art is my main medium for expression.
I am on a continuous journey of creative expression, of unfolding creatively,
in exploring the interaction of emotions, moods, music, and movement and expressing these through my art.
INTERMEDIAL ART THERAPY
[inter-]: between or reciprocal engagement of media
Intermedial Art Therapy entails engaging in more than one creative medium and opens the scope for
creative exploration and self-discovery. Intermedial art therapy is a form of expressive arts therapy, in which various creative forms
of expression are available in the therapy session and where the interplay between these art media are of essence. Art forms such as movement, music, art, drama and creative writing, heighten self-awareness on all levels, invite for a broader range of expression, and allows to explore ourselves more through various creative and aesthetic means. Creative expression reconnects the mind and spirit and increases awareness to ourselves in the now. It quiets, maybe even tames the mind and heightens awareness on the present moment. It also reconnects our inner being, our feelings and hidden insights to explore ourselves.
In my practice and art studio, I work with a broad range of media or creative forms of expression, such as visual arts, creative writing, visual journalling, collage, clay, sound, movement/dance, as well as photography and the digital arts. I believe in working mindfully and resource-orientated. Meaning, that I work towards strengthening inner resources and personal strengths in order to face and tackle life’s challenges in a more constructive and empowering way. No matter what challenges and burdens we are faced with, the human body, mind, and spirit has the capacity to heal and steer towards well-being and growth through inner resources. Sometimes, these resources are undiscovered or not acknowledged. However, through working with ourselves and strengthening these personal resources, I believe we can maintain emotional balance and are then more equipped to tackle life’s challenges.
